Obuda University’s Strategic Expansion into Kenya

In the heart of East Africa, Kenya’s rich culture and dynamic economic landscape present a valuable opportunity for strategic educational partnerships. Obuda University, recognized within the top 2% of global universities by the 2025 THE rankings, is actively expanding its presence in Sub-Saharan Africa. This strategic plan targets increasing the enrollment of fee-paying students from Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, and Tanzania, with the reactivation of its Kenyan office playing a crucial role in this strategy.

At the forefront of this expansion are Obuda University’s collaborations with leading Kenyan educational institutions. The university has established significant partnerships with Strathmore University and Dedan Kimathi University of Technology. These ties are not just future potential; they are active engagements that enhance OU’s STEAM programs by attracting top talent and facilitating cutting-edge joint business projects. Additionally, Obuda University works closely with established industrial partners such as ACPM IT Consulting and BCK, aiming to develop projects that promote technological and educational advancements.

Participation in events like the ISEF Nairobi Fair is another key strategy, enabling Obuda University to engage directly with potential students and establish relationships with international high schools in the region. These efforts ensure a continuous pipeline of well-prepared candidates for OU’s innovative programs. Obuda University is excited to participate in the Rubik’s Cube Challenge at the Gigiri Courtyard in Nairobi on 1st of March, 2025.

Obuda University’s commitment extends beyond academic excellence; it aims to provide transformative opportunities that equip Kenyan students with high-quality, practical skills and vibrant student life. This environment is designed to nurture future leaders and advocates for higher education, emphasizing the affordable, innovative offerings at OU.

The university also fosters international exposure through the Pannonia Program, which encourages Hungarian students to participate in exchange programs with Kenyan universities like Strathmore and Dedan Kimathi. This not only enhances their international outlook but also deepens their global competence.

The strategic plan is set by Gyorgyi de Nemesker, with a dedicated team including Kristina Variash, Kenyan office manager Brian Goga, and Marton Miklos, CEO of ACPM, all playing pivotal roles in bringing this plan to fruition. Obuda University gratefully acknowledges the support of the Hungarian Embassy, which has been instrumental in facilitating these partnerships and initiatives. Additionally, discussions are underway for a future agreement with the KATIC Center regarding joint projects.

Through these strategic efforts, Obuda University is not just educating; it’s creating a bridge between continents, cultivating a global community of learners and leaders. Its steadfast commitment to innovation and education positions OU as a beacon of excellence, poised to shape the futures of students both in Africa and around the world.
