Obuda University Joins the Statement for a Responsible Space Sector

“Our participation significantly supports Obuda University’s efforts in space research and space sustainability while contributing to the development of innovative solutions that serve the benefit of society,” stated Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of the university, at the signing of the agreement initiated by the European Space Agency (ESA) on February 5. The collaboration aims to establish the foundations for the sustainable development of the space sector and enhance the societal benefits of space activities.

“We take great pride in maintaining excellent relations with outstanding scientists, including Professor Antal Bejczy, whose pioneering work has greatly contributed to the advancement of space robotics and telerobotic systems, which have been fundamental to the success of Mars exploration,” explained Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács. He added that, in tribute to his legacy, Obuda University established the Antal Bejczy Center for Intelligent Robotics thirteen years ago, and recognizing the strategic significance of space research, the university founded the Space Lab last year. Researchers at the Space Lab conduct outstanding work in both applied and theoretical space research, contributing to the realization of the university’s strategic objectives.

By signing the Statement for a Responsible Space Sector, Obuda University reaffirms its commitment to strengthening its efforts in space research, space sciences, space engineering, space economy, and space sustainability, as well as fostering international cooperation,” the Rector emphasized. The cooperation agreement was signed by Szabolcs Szolnoki, Deputy State Secretary for Technology at the Ministry of National Economy, Balázs Gulyás, President of the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network, and Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács.
