The 23rd IEEE World Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI 2025) was held in Stará Lesná, Slovakia, from January 23 to 25, bringing together nearly 150 internationally recognized experts and researchers in applied machine intelligence and informatics, including university faculty and doctoral students. The event was jointly organized by the IEEE Hungary Section, the Hungarian Fuzzy Society, Obuda University, and the Technical University of Košice.
During the opening ceremony, Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Obuda University, and Prof. Dr. Peter Mésároš, Rector of the Technical University of Košice, expressed their gratitude for the successful contributions to the conference’s publications, among other achievements.
The plenary sessions featured distinguished speakers: Juraj Gazda, Vice-Rector for Innovation at the Technical University of Košice, Prof. Dr. Miklós Kozlovszky, and Igor Farkaš, Professor at Comenius University in Bratislava.
The Baltazár Frankovič Young Researcher Award was also presented at the conference. Established by the former Budapest Tech (now Obuda University) and the Hungarian Fuzzy Society, this prestigious award is granted annually to a young researcher who produces and presents the most outstanding publication, as determined by a voting process.

This year’s award recipients were Maroš Krupáš and Zoltán Varga, recognized for their exceptional research contributions.
Following a rigorous peer-review process, 91 papers were accepted for presentation.

Researchers from 15 countries participated in the conference, including representatives from Hungary, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway, Germany, Romania, Portugal, Lebanon, Kazakhstan, India, and Australia.
The high academic and publication value of the conference papers is further demonstrated by their eligibility for inclusion in the IEEE Xplore database.
