Obuda University is at the top of the subject rankings

Óbuda University has been ranked among the world’s eight hundred best IT, engineering and technology programmes by Times Higher Education (THE). The ÓU was ranked 601-800 in both categories. In Physical Sciences, the institution is ranked between 801 and 1000.

Óbuda University proves year after year that it is the highest level technical higher education institution – said Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács, Rector of Óbuda University, commenting on the latest international rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings.

Óbuda University is the best higher education institution in Hungary in the ranking of technical and engineering education, together with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), with 601-800th place. In the field of information technology, it is also ranked with BME and the University of Debrecen in the 601-800 range. In the broader Physical Sciences ranking, Óbuda University was ranked in the 801-1000 range. The university’s rector said that Óbuda University was first included in THE’s international ranking two years ago, and has maintained its position in the face of increasingly strong competition. Óbuda University has made changes in a number of areas in recent years, and a successful and well thought-out model change has played an important role in its current ranking.

The authors of the subject rankings use a similar methodology to that used for the world university rankings: universities are ranked according to 16 criteria. They include the ratio of faculty to students, the number of foreign students, the research environment, the quality of research and its citation rate, and the so-called knowledge transfer indicators, i.e. the number of industrial revenues and patents.
